Deadly snowstorm hampers travel in central US

Snowstorms are storms where large amounts of snow fall. Snow is less dense than liquid water, by a factor of approximately 10 at temperatures slightly below freezing, and even more at much colder temperatures.[citation needed] Therefore, an amount of water that would produce 0.8 in. (2 cm.) of rain could produce at least 8 in (20 cm) of snow.  Blizzard warnings went up across wide sections of the U.S. Southwest and Great Plains on Monday, threatening holiday travel ahead of the Christmas weekend.

Warnings forecasting snowfalls of up to 18 inches (.4 meters) stretched across the region as the storm barreled toward parts of New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado.

The storm was expected to disrupt holiday travel on major interstates in the region, including Interstate 35 in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas, interstates 25 and 40 in New Mexico and Interstate 70 across central Kansas.By Thursday, this system should move off the coast with another system forecast to move in behind it.

This second system should begin to take shape in the Southern Plains late Wednesday night, with rain and thunderstorms extending from eastern Texas into the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys: some locally heavy rainfall is possible in this area on Thursday.

'It's not too late' to jump in 2012 presidential race said, Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin

Can Sarah Palin still enter the 2012 presidential race? You betcha.

"It's not too late for folks to jump in," the former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee said during an interview on the Fox Business Network Monday night. "Who knows what will happen in the future."According to The Associated Press, Palin told Fox over the weekend that she felt no enthusiasm for anyone in the current field of Republican candidates and that she needed to feel something before endorsing one of them. Before Palin's comments aired Monday night, reality TV producer Mark Burnett said she was in talks to film a second season of "Alaska." According to The New York Post, Palin's outdoors adventures with her family would be filmed during the summer of 2012 and the show would air after the November election.

Burnett said "Sarah Palin's Alaska" premiere in November 2010 was seen by more than 5 million viewers, making it the most-watched premiere ever on TLC.

When Palin said in October that she wouldn't seek the GOP nomination, she said she hoped to be more effective in getting others elected. But with the Iowa caucuses set to begin the nomination process Jan. 3, just two weeks from today, a new candidate could dramatically shake up the Republican field. Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said he agreed with Palin's assessment.

"I would not be at all surprised to see one or two more candidates between now and the end of April," Gingrich told FOX News & Commentary. "The clock is running but the clock sure hasn't stopped."Palin said she also had concerns about the lack of focus on "values and character" from the GOP field. "It's not all about politics," she said. "It is all about value and character."

Kim Jong Un New Leader of North Korea

Now Kim Jong Un is going to become new leader of North Korea. Kim Jong Un, the youngest son of the recently deceased North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, has long been expected to succeed his father. However, the younger Kim remains much of a mystery. Kim Jong Un is believed to have been born between 1983 and 1984. However, his exact age is unknown, as are the name of his mother and his marital statusThe body of late North Korean leader Kim Jong Il is lying in state at a presidential mausoleum, as throngs of somber, weeping mourners continued to express sorrow at the longtime leader's unexpected death.

North Korean state television on Tuesday showed images of Kim's body - partially covered by a red blanket - lying in a glass coffin and surrounded by flowers at Pyongyang's Kumsusan Memorial PalaceThough observers fear a power struggle following Kim's death, North Korean state media have given clear indications that he will be succeeded by Kim Jong Un. Media reports have referred to him as a "great successor" and the "pillar of our people."

Late last year, the elder Kim promoted Kim Jong Un to the rank of four-star general, in what was seen as a bid to extend the world's only communist dynasty to a third generation.

Kim Jong Un's influence within the North Korean leadership is uncertain.  Although he was appointed to several top posts last year, analysts say he has had little time to earn the trust of power brokers in the military and the ruling Korean Workers' party.

The ear of Gadhafi's has ended !

Moammar Gadhafi

Moammar Gadhafi was seen as an international villain, but for Susan Cohen he was a personal enemy, one she read up on daily for more than 20 years.
Gadhafi's death has ended the history of modern Arab Libya.Yet the death of Moammar Gadhafi was a milestone in modern Arab history in many ways more significant than the overthrow of lesser autocrats in Tunisia and Egypt.Gadhafi was the last of the old-style Arab strongmen — the charismatic, nationalist revolutionaries who rose to power in the 1950s and 1960s, promising to liberate the masses from the shackles of European colonialism and the stultifying rule of the Arab elite that the foreigners left behind after World War II.
Gadhafi was the last of a generation of Arab leaders such as Gamal Abdel-Nasser of Egypt, Hafez Assad of Syria and Saddam Hussein of Iraq who emerged from poverty, rising to the pinnacle of power either through the ranks of the military or the disciplined, conspiratorial world of underground political organizations. To some of them, his return implied that Britain was siding more with Gadhafi than with the victims of the bombing. In London on Thursday, British Prime Minister David Cameron pledged assistance to Libya's leaders as they work to form a new government.

"Today is a day to remember all of Gadhafi's victims," he said. "We should also remember the many, many people who died at the hands of this brutal dictator and his regime."Word of Gadhafi's demise was met joyously by members of Southern California's small and scattered Libyan-American community. Most have lives in the U.S. and will not return to Libya, but all have friends or relatives there.

"Every family that I know is happy. We were calling each other at 4:30 this morning ... congratulating each other," Idris Traina, 62, of Torrance, president of the Libyan-American Association of Southern California.

Well done Mushfiqur Rahim

New captain Mushfiqur Rahim leads the Bangladesh cricket team in T20 against West Indies last day and won by 3 wickets. In whole team Mushfiqur Rahim was the hero.

Bangladesh needed six runs in the last over to achieve a modest 133-run target before wicketkeeper-batsman Rahim (41 not out) hit paceman Ravi Rampaul's penultimate delivery over mid-wicket for a six.

Bangladesh required 20 runs in the last two overs, but Rahim and Hossain eased the pressure when they scored 14 in the 19th over bowled by debutant seamer Carlos Brathwaite.

Rahim, who hit two sixes in his 26-ball knock, also upstaged Marlon Samuels, who put in an impressive all-round performance for the West Indies. Samuels top-scored with a 42-ball 58 and took two key wickets with his off-spin.

Left-arm spinners Shakib and Abdur Razzak earlier bagged two wickets apiece as Bangladesh restricted the West Indies.

Samuels was the lone batsman to defy Bangladesh's spin attack, but received little support from the other end. He hit four sixes and two fours before being dismissed in the last over.

Razzak, who opened the attack, finished with 2-27 while Shakib bagged 2-25. Seamer Shafiul Islam took two wickets in the final over to finish with 2-19 off four overs.

The West Indies, put in to bat, lost their way after being comfortably placed at 61-1 in the ninth over. Their slide began with the dismissal of opener Lendl Simmons (23), trapped leg-before by Razzak.

Off-spinner Naeem Islam and seamer Rubel Hossain each took one wicket.

Bangladesh and the West Indies will now play a three-match one-day series, starting in Dhaka on Thursday.

BCB Declared Captain

Mushfiqur Rahim

BCB has declared Mushfiqur Rahim as a captain for the upcoming home series against the West Indies and Pakistan, an official said on Tuesday.

All-rounder Mohammad Mahmudullah was named Rahim's deputy, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) spokesman Rabeed Imam said.

"Rahim will captain the national team for Tests and limited-over matches for the home series against the West Indies and Pakistan," he told AFP.

"The West Indies will tour from October and Pakistan from the last week of November."

Wicket-keeper Rahim, a former vice-captain, had a brilliant series in Zimbabwe last month when he hit his first century in one-day internationals.

He was singled out as a likely choice for captaincy after the BCB sacked regular captain Shakib Al Hasan and vice-captain Tamim Iqbal early this month following the team's unsuccessful tour of Zimbabwe.

Bangladesh lost the one-off Test and then a five-match one-day series 3-2 in Zimbabwe.

Shakib and Tamim are the best Bangladeshi cricketers to have emerged on the international scene, winning Wisden cricket magazine's international player of the year in 2009 and 2010, respectively.

But they were accused of indiscipline during the Zimbabwe tour as result the havr lost their captaincy. However now we hope Rahim will lead the team successfuly.

Pace bowler Kyle Jarvis hit a tidy line and cleverly changed his pace to take 3-15 in his four overs. He removed Rameez Raja (1), Misbah-ul-Haq (15) and Sohail Tanvir (7).

Pakistan won the two-match series 2-0, beating Zimbabwe by 85 runs in the first Twenty20.

2011: Rugby World Cup

The Rugby Cup is a international sport. It is very popular for the American people but it watch almost all people all over the world.
The 2011 Rugby World Cup is the seventh Rugby World Cup, a quadrennial international rugby union competition inaugurated in 1987. The International Rugby Board (IRB) selected New Zealand as the host country in preference to Japan and South Africa at a meeting in Dublin on 17 November 2005. The IRB Council eliminated South Africa in the first of two rounds of voting.

It will be the largest sporting event ever held in New Zealand, eclipsing the 1987 Rugby World Cup, 1990 Commonwealth Games, 1992 Cricket World Cup, 2003 America's Cup and 2005 British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand. The organisers expect 95,000 visitors from overseas to travel to New Zealand for the event.

The schedule of games runs over seven weeks starting on 9 September 2011. The final will be played on Sunday 23 October 2011, a date chosen because it falls on a long weekend caused by the New Zealand public holiday of Labour Day (Monday, 24 October 2011).[4] The final is scheduled to be played in Auckland at Eden Park.
After speculation that the number of participating teams would be reduced to 16, the IRB announced on 30 November 2007 that the 2011 tournament would again feature 20 teams.[6] Twelve teams qualified as a result of finishing in the top three in each pool in the 2007 tournament. The remaining eight berths were determined by regional qualifying tournaments. Of the 20 countries that competed in the previous World Cup in 2007, there was only one change – Russia replaced Portugal.

Morgan Parra Switches to Fly Half for Franch:Rugby World Cup 2011

France enter they would be better off losing to New Zealand on Saturday, with the path to the World Cup final in mind but they will not be fielding a reserve team against the All Blacks, even if it has the whiff of experimentation.

The France coach, Marc Lièvremont, has opted to field two scrum-halves. Dimitri Yachvili will wear No9 and will have Morgan Parra as his half-back partner.

Parra did come on at fly-half for the last 19 minutes of France's opening World Cup match against Japan. His arrival coincided with the end of the Japanese revival but he admitted that he was surprised to be given the No10 jersey against New Zealand, even though France have a recent history of switching half-backs, most notably Jean-Baptiste Ellisalde and Frédéric Michalak. He is the sixth player in French history to start at both nine and 10 and only the second in the history of the World Cup.

Lièvremont said that France would not entertain the thought of losing, even though he accepted that finishing second in Pool A would be more preferable that topping it.

"We can play without pressure and will not be burdened by complexes," Lièvremont said. "Playing the All Blacks in New Zealand is a challenge unlike any other and never mind the outcome on Saturday, I hope we meet them again at Eden Park in next month's final."

France were the last team to defeat the All Blacks at Eden Park, back in 1994. Their team this weekend contain 10 of their strongest lineup. Most of Lièvremont's tinkering has been done behind the scrum but he remains without the injured tighthead prop Nicolas Mas.

France: Traille, Clerc, Rougerie, Mermoz, Médard, Parra, 9-Dimitri Yachvili, Picamoles, Bonnaire, Dusautoir (capt), Nallet, Pape, Ducalcon, Szarzewski, Poux. Replacements Servat, Barcella, Pierre, Harinordoquy, Trinh-Duc, Estebanez, Heymans.

South Africa: Lambie, Aplon, Fourie, F Steyn, Habana, M Steyn, Hougaard; Spies, Burger, Alberts, Rossouw, Botha, Van der Linde, Smit (capt), Steenkamp. Replacements Ralepelle, Mtawarira, Louw, Brussow, Du Preez, Pienaar, De Jongh.

Discovers in HIV Treatment:An Evolving Paradigm

Recently has discovered HIV treatment in the developed world today. This is a regimen consisting of a combination of drugs taken daily to suppress viral reproduction and prevent the emergence of resistant strains. The advent of HAART has transformed HIV/AIDS from a deadly disease to a manageable, chronic one for most patients.

The first FDA approved drug for HIV was Azido-thymidine (AZT), from GlaxoSmithKline (LON:GSK, NYSE:GSK) in 1987, only six years after the disease was first documented and three years after the virus was isolated. AZT was originally developed as a cancer drug but found to have activity as a nucleoside reverse-transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI), preventing the HIV virus from copying its RNA genome into a double stranded DNA. This breakthrough drug had a tough dosage schedule: one pill, every four hours non-stop.

In the decades that followed, multiple new classes of anti-HIV drugs have reached approval. Including multi-drug combinations and reformulations, the FDA lists 35 drugs in six classes available for patients. The time to approval of AIDS drugs has historically been quite brisk. The FDA only took 3.5 months to review GSK’s drug AZT, while Merck’s (NYSE:MRK) Crixivan was approved in a mere 1.4 months in 1996. Timelines have lengthened in recent years as the market has matured and the need for new medicines became less acute.

Work progressed quickly on new NRTIs over the next few years. Due to the inherently high mutation rate of the HIV virus, resistance developed shortly after AZT usage began. It became obvious the virus needed to be hit simultaneously with multiple drugs.

Inovio Pharmaceuticals (AMEX:INO) is another biotech working in the field of DNA vaccines. It recently reported interim Phase I data from an ongoing study of healthy volunteers for its PENNVAX-G HIV vaccine. The procedure followed a protocol similar to that of the HVTN 505 study: participants were inoculated with immunogen at months 0 and 1, followed by boosting with MVA-CMDR at 3 and 6 months. Inovio noted CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell response rates of 73% (8 of 11) and 45% (5 of 11) respectively after the second MVA boost.

Despite the maturity of the HIV drug market, scientific progress continues. Just as HAART revolutionized HIV treatment in the late 1990s, DNA vaccines look to do the same in the coming years. Leading the charge are non-profits, governments, and small biotechs; Big Pharma is sitting on the sidelines. Proof of concept has been achieved. It is only a matter of time before an effective vaccine is developed. Almost 50,000 individuals are newly diagnosed with HIV in the US each year and over 2 million worldwide. The market for an HIV vaccine is huge.
Now we will be able to save our life.

Barack Obama reveals $3 trillion deficit-cutting plan

President Barack Obama

President Barack Obama has declared a $3.6 trillion plan on Monday to cut budget deficits partly by raising taxes on the rich, but Republicans rejected it as a political stunt and made clear the proposal had little chance of becoming law.

Vowing to veto any plan that relies solely on spending cuts to reduce deficits, the Democratic president's recommendations set the stage for an ideological fight with Republicans opposed to tax increases that will stretch through Election Day 2012.

"I will not support any plan that puts all the burden of closing our deficit on ordinary Americans," Obama said. "We are not going to have a one-sided deal that hurts the folks who are most vulnerable."

Obama has previously shown interest in means-testing — asking high-income seniors to pay more for their medical care.

The White House plan rules out lifting the Medicare eligibility age from 65 to 67, as some Republicans have suggested. Other savings would come from what one senior White House official called "overpayments," signaling that the administration wants to ask medical providers and drug makers to help reduce costs.

Obama's speech reflected a more aggressive defense of Democratic principles after he took a battering in two previous budget battles with Republicans this year, which helped drive his approval rating to new lows.

Most Americans say they are unhappy with Obama's economic leadership, and the president's re-election hopes could hinge on his ability to convince voters that Republicans represent the rich, not the middle class.

On Monday, he repeatedly said all Americans must pay their "fair share" of taxes, and he sharpened the difference between his vision for America and that of Republicans in a speech meant to regain support among core supporters who have said Obama has failed to stick to liberal principles.

Republicans have consistently opposed any measures resembling tax hikes, saying they will hurt the struggling economy by increasing the burden on job-creating businesses. Republican leaders stuck to that position on Monday, quickly rejecting Obama's plan.

' It would be nicely to end with a win,' says Dravid.

"The great wall" of Indian cricket team and former skipper of the national team, has told that he would like to end  his one-day international career on winning in Cardiff on Friday.

Dravid acknowledged the appreciation he had earned in his 15-year long career, and said that a win would be special.

"I think that I have got enough respect and enough recognition for what I've done, and to be honest, I'd like to end off with a win. It would be lovely for India, and you know we've had a tough tour," he said.

"It would be lovely to finish with a win. Irrespective of what I get, it will be great if we can finish off with a win tomorrow and I hope that we'll play some of the best cricket," he added.

"I thought we played some very good cricket at Lord's the other day and some terrific performances, just that, unfortunately, we couldn't get over the line. But hopefully, we can do that tomorrow," Dravid said.

Dravid said that his long career spanning over 300 games has made him a versatile player, one who could captain or keep wickets, and bat at different positions.

Known for his temperament as a Test batsman, he said that playing one-dayers had helped him to strengthen his technique in the longer format of the game.

Dravid said that India's tour of England has been disappointing and the sense of defeat would remain in spite of the accolades he received personally for his batting.

"Obviously, the Test series was bittersweet. You know, there was a lot of satisfaction of playing against a tough attack and scoring runs, but obviously, it's been a disappointing tour for us, so that sense will always remain. But yeah, I'm fully humbled by some of the, you know, some of the nice things, good things that have been said about me over the last few weeks," he added.

Dravid also said that monitoring one's fitness and approaching the game with a sense of enthusiasm and discipline was the key to a long career.

Widely touted as one of India's greatest ever Test batsman, Dravid stood out as the lone success story in India's 4-0 Test series loss to England, aggregating 461 runs with three centuries at an average of nearly 77 that won him praise from all quarters.

Finally Dravid is a great player in the Indian cricket team. After leaving cricket career Indian team will loss a great player from there team.

9/11 is a remembered day all the people all over the world. Every year Americans people remembered that day and respect to the people who are died .But the fact that the deadliest, most visually arresting attacks occurred in New York City also meant that many of the world's best photographers were, in effect, already on the scene when the terrorists struck. Hurricane has beaten in America

Hurricane has beaten in America. It has damaged a lot of wealth.    Tropical Storm Irene spent the last of its fury Sunday, leaving treacherous flooding and millions without power

Slowly, the East Coast surveyed the damage — up to $7 billion by one private estimate — but for many the danger had not passed.

This is not over," President Barack Obama said from the Rose Garden.

Meanwhile, the nation's most populous region looked to a new week and the arduous process of getting back to normal.
New York lifted its evacuation order for 370,000 people and said subway service, shut down for the first time by a natural disaster, will be partially restored Monday, though it warned riders to expect long lines and long waits."All in all," New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said, "we are in pretty good shape."

At least 21 people died in the storm, most of them when trees crashed through roofs or onto cars As the East Coast cleans up, it can't afford to get too comfortable. Off the coast of Africa is a batch of clouds that computer models say will probably threaten the East Coast 10 days from now, Mayfield said. The hurricane center gave it a 40 percent chance of becoming a named storm over the next two days.

Wonders of the World in Miniature,In London

The Pantheon at Roam
This is the Roman Pantheon. It is shown at the soane Museum in London.
.When John Soane, a famed architecture professor at the Royal Academy in London, taught scientific and artistic principles of construction in the early 19th century, he used architectural models created by the master designer François Fouquet.
Twenty of the rarest and most beautiful of these detailed plaster models of famous monuments from ancient Greece, Rome and the Near East are on view in “Wonders of the Ancient World: François Fouquet’s Model Masterpieces,” running through Sept. 24 at Sir John Soane’s Museum (13 Lincoln’s Inn Fields, 44-20-744-0426;). The collection provides an intriguing record of historically significant architecture, as well as insights into how the English incorporated ancient architectural principles into their buildings.

The models also include representations of the Temple of Venus at Baalbec; the Parthenon, the Arch of Hadrian and Tower of Winds in Athens; the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world; the Temple of Vesta at Tivoli; and the Pantheon and the Temple of Fortuna Virillis in Rome.
Each one is constructed over a metal armature, fixed to wooden bases and enclosed in glass domes. (Although it’s not part of the exhibit, Fouquet also made a model of the Virginia Capitol for Thomas Jefferson.)
The museum commissioned a limited edition of replicas of the Temple of Vesta at Tivoli from the British master craftsman Timothy Rogers, which can be purchased online at the museum shop or at the museum.
The museum is free, open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; the first Tuesday of every month until 9 p.m.

India hammered by England, loses top test

Wicket Enjoy
India lost the 3rd Test match by an innings inside four days. England are now sitting pretty at 3-0 up in the four-Test series. The question now is: Will India will slip to the third slot? And that will happen if India lose the 4th Test as well.

Prior to the series beginning, India were ranked 1st in Tests, with South Africa 2nd and England 3rd. India were favourites going into the series after being the best team in Tests for some 18 months.

India played and defeated South Africa in a number of hard-fought Tests both home and away and also faced stern challenges against Sri Lanka. They didn't win every match but stayed ahead. The big challenge was meant to be their tour of Australia later in the year. If they could win that, then there could be no disputing their title of best test team in the world.

It is not like England flogged India. It was fairly close, and, given that it was effectively Eight vs 11, India could perhaps suggest that they were on top. Zaheer Khan missed the second Test, but a fully fit bowler replaced him. At least they had eleven fit and ready players.
